Description

In Detail

This is an easily fitted flexible rubber machine cuff for attaching hose to machinery. One end has a moulded RH thread that screws directly onto our 100mm clear hose, the other end of the cuff is a snug fit onto a 102-110mm diameter machine extraction port. Turn the cuff inside out if it does not match your hose spiral. It makes for an easy connection, and re-connecting the extractor from one to machine to another as simple as possible. NOTE, this cuff fits all current Axminster clockwise spiral 100mm clear hoses directly.

Expensive for a simple piece of plastic, but effective

These cuffs are flexible but extremely tough - I guess around 5mm thick - and with little or no stretch. The fit on my hose (not from Axminster) was impossibly tight until I lubricated the cuff with silicone grease, which allowed me to get it on and make a secure connection without difficulty. The plain end fits Axminster blast gates well enough to be secure without a clip, but I needed a a Jubilee clip to attach it securely to an Axminster size reducer. Supposedly compatible components like these really should be made to tighter specifications, with better quality control, especially at the price.

Now fits latest pipe

Perhaps I have a more recent model of flexible pipe (I bought mine from Axminster Basingstoke a few weeks ago - Feb 15), but I have experienced none of the grief reported by the other reviewers below. The cuff fits like a glove, no need to turn inside out. Screwed in on in two ticks and stays firm. The plain end is a nice fit onto the hose joiner and quite a good fit onto my Electra Planer. It is easy to use and am pleased that I could afford it, but I do wonder why it is so expensive for a piece of moulded plastic.

In a huff about a cuff

Axminster, you need to sort this, I am disappointed with you. I bought a cuff many years ago and just simply screwed it on the Axminster supplied hose. I needed another cuff and so purchased one from Nuneaton together with another length of hose. When I get home I find that Axminster now sell clockwise hose and anti-clockwise cuffs. I then find a note in the catalogue telling me to turn the cuff inside out so the lovely shiny finish which looks as if I paid £20 for, is now on the inside and a spotty £2.99 finish has replaced it. I also suspect that the joint between the cuff and the hose is not airtight.

The Nuneaton store is brilliant except that we don't know how many of an item you have in stock. Generally you appear to have just one. I advise people to check and reserve if they are travelling a distance or they may be disappointed as I was. If you travelled yesterday to buy a cuff sorry I bought all of the stock. I shall be buying another when they are sold as clockwise cuffs.

Poor one

As S Woyka , noted the thread is the wrong direction. If it needs to be turned inside out, suggest Axminster do that, or get it designed properly in the first place. The size is a lousy fit with the big mouth air scoop. A bad buy. first bad one from Axminster.

hose cuff fits

Hose was opposite thread to my hose cuff. Technical advised to turn it inside out which was a little tricky, but it now fits beautifully. Expensive for what it is, but an improvement to my system.
