In Detail

Evolution 1 Year Guarantee

This positive pressure powered respirator eliminates the drawbacks encountered with standard negative pressure face masks. The motor unit blows filtered air down over your face at a rate of 160L/min. Fatigue caused by having to suck through a filter is no longer a problem; breathing is normal and comfortable. The air exiting around the sides and bottom of the mask is at slightly higher pressure than that outside, so forms a most effective seal. Beards are not a problem. If you wear glasses, these will not fog or mist up as you breathe out. With the motor and filters mounted on the peak of the bump cap and the battery at the rear, the balance of the APF 10 Evolution unit is excellent. Combined with the low overall weight (680g), it is very comfortable. The Li-Ion batteries give you a run time of 8 hours on a full charge. The filters are easy to inspect and replace. The bump cap’s outer cover is removable for washing. The unit provides FFP2 respiratory protection to EN12941:1988 TH1P. The bump cap gives head protection to EN812. The clear visor gives you a wide field of vision along with impact protection to EN.166.B.1. Supplied with an 8-hour battery, plus charger, two filters, a flow-rate meter and complete instructions all within a strong storage box. You only get one pair of lungs.

Good bit of kit

Bought this to replace my old Racal which expired, interestingly this is from a top name in health and safety gear, and with their own brand on the front would cost almost a hundred pounds more, remembering what I paid 15 years ago, this is a very good deal, a tiny cost to invest in your future health. The helmet is of a nifty design, well balanced and easy to wear even with glasses, and with the bump cap ok for site use. The great advantage I found with this type of face mask, when turning wood on a commercial basis, is the complete lack of fatigue at the end of a long day, it is amazing what a difference it makes to be breathing clean air, with nearly 50yrs of experience, trust me, this is a very good investment.

Axminster APF10

I purchased this on the strength of the reviews I read. I use mine at work and at home I find at home in my little workshop it works fine I find it very light. At work when working outside I find it struggles to keep the visor clear from fog was quite disappointed maybe it will work better when the weather warms up

Better late than never

Last month our woodturning club had a member who is a retired doctor give a talk on health and safety in the work shop, most of what he said was common sense but when it came to wood dust he scarred the shit out of most of us. That is the reason for my purchase of the Evolution Respirator, it does work even for someone like me that wears glasses and has a beard. I have only had it for 2 weeks and so far it is great

Very good

So far I have used it for removing a ceiling, striping laths and plaster, cutting wood and working in a dusty loft. When striping plaster the filters need hoovering every hour or so but for less dusty work like cutting wood they can be left all day. Soooo much more comfortable and easier to put/remove than normal masks. Also the stream of air over you're face is cooling.

High Quality and Comfortable

I love this. As a glasses wearer I was always frustrated with fogging when wearing a dust mask. This isn't an issue here, plenty of room for specs and no fogging at all.
The whole thing is really comfortable and not too heavy, you really do forget that you're wearing it. After a good four hours of wood turning it was still blowing strong.
It is expensive but put that into perspective. The battery lasts a long time and decent battery technology always costs and remember, breathing in dust from sanding will eventually kill you. You shouldn't compromise on respiration/extraction and should always the the best you can afford.
