In Detail

Evolution 1 Year Guarantee

This positive pressure powered respirator eliminates the drawbacks encountered with standard negative pressure face masks. The motor unit blows filtered air down over your face at a rate of 160L/min. Fatigue caused by having to suck through a filter is no longer a problem; breathing is normal and comfortable. The air exiting around the sides and bottom of the mask is at slightly higher pressure than that outside, so forms a most effective seal. Beards are not a problem. If you wear glasses, these will not fog or mist up as you breathe out. With the motor and filters mounted on the peak of the bump cap and the battery at the rear, the balance of the APF 10 Evolution unit is excellent. Combined with the low overall weight (680g), it is very comfortable. The Li-Ion batteries give you a run time of 8 hours on a full charge. The filters are easy to inspect and replace. The bump cap’s outer cover is removable for washing. The unit provides FFP2 respiratory protection to EN12941:1988 TH1P. The bump cap gives head protection to EN812. The clear visor gives you a wide field of vision along with impact protection to EN.166.B.1. Supplied with an 8-hour battery, plus charger, two filters, a flow-rate meter and complete instructions all within a strong storage box. You only get one pair of lungs.

Great bit of kit

Bought this to replace my JSP Powercap Lite, which was old and had given up the ghost. This seems to have some JSP components in it, although a slightly different design, but works just as well. This one was slightly cheaper than the JSP one I bought about five years ago so represents pretty good value for money. Will have to see how long this one lasts but it seems pretty robust so I'm expecting it to last quite a while.

A genuine life saver

I've used various filter masks over the years as a DIYer and now log producer but needed something a bit special having had a lung transplant recently. This appeared to be just the thing and whilst at £200 seemed quite expensive what price can I put on having a new lease of life and protecting an amazing gift given to me by someone I'll never meet and the incredible people in the NHS at Harefield Transplant Hospital. It does exactly what I need when splitting and sawing wood. Absolutely love it. Thank you.

to be recommended!

my wife told me that I had a choice to make: I now have chronic bronchitis; so, either I stop (amateur) woodturning or I purchase a really efficient air filtering system. though it is slightly high priced, I opted for that powered respirator and I am VERY happy of that choice: efficient, light, no more condensation on my glasses. fan is slightly noisy but I quickly forget that sound as soon as I start working. what about a FM radio in the ear protector?

Powered Respirator

Absolutely fantastic respirator. No misting and no obscured viewing like what you get with traditional masks. Very comfortable even after long periods of wearing. You can even hoover the filters, which need to be cleaned regularly to achieve optimum performance. I wont ever go back to google and mask.

Rise in cost.

I'm probably the number one fan of Axminster as I've been purchasing from them for about the last eight years. I bought this respirator about 18 months ago and gave it a good initial review. However, I've since realised it could be constructed from better materials and bearing in mind that they claim all of the components were made in the UK I can't understand why the price has increased by £10 since I purchased it. I've noticed a price hike in other Axminster items so I would ask them to think carefully about their loyal customer base prior to raising prices.
We love you Axminster but please don't take customer loyalty for granted.
