In Detail

We have tested these chisels extensively and proved them to be of exceptional value. The handles are shatterproof with rubberised inserts for comfort and more importantly a more secure and safer grip. A large steel striking button on the top end allows for the occasional blow from a hammer should the need arise. The blades, which are fine ground all over, and hardened to HRC 56-62. Only a light honing is necessary to produce a keen lasting edge. 265mm long overall with a 130mm long handle.

Purchased the 50mm only used several times went to get from my tool bag and the handle has split into 2 a quarter of the way up from the blade. Happy with its use in its short usage from purchase and blade had nice edge to it.

Average quality

I bought the set about 9 months ago and although most of the chisels have stood up the 19mm version hasn't. I expect something went wrong in the chinese forge where I expect these were made. The first time I used it the end fell off on the first tap...I used another chisel for ages and then yesterday I spent an hour re grinding it for the end to fall off again the first tap....I've had yellow marples chisels for 20 years with no failings, You pay your money and take your choice....

Really good value

These chisels are heavy and with a bit of work on the edge come up very sharp and hold their edge really well. Have the 38 and 50mm ones to use for roughing out large cuts and they are great.
