Description

In Detail

Always keep this angle reference close to hand when grinding or sharpening to check your bevels are at the correct angle. When the chance came up to make our own version, we looked at other similar tools and made some improvements. Ours is laser cut from 3mm thick stainless steel for guaranteed accuracy and durability. Each notch has an engineer's corner ensuring full contact. The eight angles provided are: 15°, 20°, 25°, 30°, 35°, 45°, 50° and 70°, which should cover most eventualities.

Functional but made to a price.

Reasonably good for the money. A handy and quick way to check angles of bevels on chisels and plane blades. Would like to see a 65 deg angle for checking standard 'engineering' twist drill rake angle.
As for being made of stainless steel, well I'd like to know what grade? The example I received had been coated with a light coat of oil/grease/wax which raised my suspicion's. I put a magnet to it and it stuck pretty good! This is either not stainless or if it is then it's a low grade stainless. I would recommend that this tool is treated as if it will rust and should be maintained as such to prevent this from happening.
I wonder how long the printed figures will last? They are not etched as far as I can see and if they do start to wear then I'll bring out the engraver and make them more permanent.

Ideal

Surprisingly handy little gauge, ideal for quickly and accurately establishing the grind angle. i use a sorby sanding belt sharpener so this tool is invaluable in speeding things up. Recommended.

Nice quality and good value

This is a nicely made gauge and should prove invaluable for grinding and sharpening, would benefit (maybe) from having a hanging hole drilled in one corner but I can always do this myself I suppose. Really pleased with this purchase.

Better than the image looks

This is 3mm thick (not the usual pressed out piece of thin plate), making it more accurate in use. I was hesitant to purchase as the advertised image showed the angle markings in white and not easy to see. However, on mine they are in thick black.

It works

Solid, chunky little angle gauge, you won't wear this out in a hurry. Only negative point is you will need to de-burr it, easily done with a fine file.
