Description

In Detail

Before applying a surface finish to your bowls, it is desirable to leave a surface without any visible sanding marks. This can be difficult using normal methods and all too often, tell tale rings are left to spoil your best efforts for a perfect finish. One of the best ways of eliminating this problem is to use a rotating sanding pad driven by the rotation of the lathe. By working through different grit types starting with the coarsest and applying light pressure, you can achieve a surface well prepared for the finish of your choice. The Axminster Deluxe bowl sanding kit contains two 75mm pads and two 50mm pads and a comfortable cushioned grip handle with an adjustable head for easy access to your work. N.B. Do not use heavy pressure or you will simply generate excessive heat which in turn could lead to the deterioration of the sponge pad. The abrasive discs will need to purchased separately.

Well Made

After using this item for the first time the other day, I can honestly say that I am impressed. The item is very sturdy, and while I agree with a previous reviewer that the handle could have been longer, I found it adequate for the size of bowl that I was turning.

Quite amazingly effective

The quality of the finish that this device gives, and how quick it is to sand, is quite amazing. I find that it's fine to use the 50mm discs on the smaller sanding pad. Also, for sanding at the centre, near the rotation axis, it's best to mount the sanding pad in a drill. Excellent tool, wouldn't be without it.

De luxe bowl sanding kit

Ordered yesterday arrived today and in use this afternoon excellent service, it is a knack to get it running nicely but once you do it is far far superior to using a battery drill/screwdriver, the finish once you have gone through the grit grades is absolutely great almost a professional finish maybe with more experience it will be ?. Very very pleased with the quality of the sander and the results.

Excellent product but could do with a 25mm pad

Bought this a few weeks ago now and it's excellent. Sturdy build and comfortable to use resulting in a good value product. Sold with two 75 and 50 mm pads however although Axminster sells a 25mm pad it only has a 3mm shank and too small to fit this item. A 25mm pad would get in the smaller of projects so come on Axminster, sort this out!
