In Detail

Suitable for all mains drills with a 43mm diameter collar, these are convenient aids for accurate drilling of vertical holes. Typical applications are dowel drilling or kitchen door hinges, which need an accurately located and square recess. A vee groove in the base gives accurate location of round items. The guide rods can be set to protrude beyond the level of the base, so the guide can be used to automatically centre on an edge, very useful when undertaking tasks such as drilling a door in order to fit a lock for example.

Could be a great product with a little more quality and thought in the design. The main components are fine. But the depth stop is impossible to use as one cannot tighten the thumb screw enough to ensure it does not move because of the pressure exerted by the spring. Very quickly the thumbscrew falls apart, the orange plastic bit is just glued to the poor quality bolt. The cheap handle is fairly pointless. If you don’t need the depth stop then it’s fine.

Pretty good overall

bought it to use with a plug cutter which works fine. Also find it useful when installing door handles, both for installing the barrel and for drilling fixing holes from the side

Great little tool

Bought this to drill straight holes freehand. Use it regularly. Purchased a nice little Bosch drill to go with it. Great combination not let me down once.
For the price I couldn't ask for more. If it breaks I'll buy another.

Design problem

If the collar had been made just slightly bigger it would work much better as it not possible to tightly grip my cordless. If the collar is left slightly loose to avoid binding on the chuck, the drill can move off vertical.

Awesome tool!

Yes, I too believe I can drill straight freehand! Its a man thing.

For the price, this is a no-brainer. I use for drilling through partition walls when I need the enter/exit holes to be perfectly aligned for a bolt fixing. Also good in the middle of a large sheet of wood where the drill press can't reach, oh and even depth countersink holes.

I found my old Bosch wired mains drill fitted better as my cordless didn't have much of a collar.
