Description

In Detail

Some of the best ideas are the simple ones. Combining a clear base with a vee groove and interchangeable steel bushes, this jig allows you to drill vertically and position it accurately on a flat surface or using the vee groove in the base on a corner, or centred on a cylinder or a sphere, both notoriously difficult shapes to drill into with any degree of accuracy. With metric bushes to suit drill sizes 4, 5, 6, 8,10 and 12mm.

Cheap and cheerful, but it works

This is not a precision bench drill, but it is much more likely to produce an accurate 90' drill hole than simply hoping for it. It is also particularly good for working on dowel or irregular surfaces.

If you want more than that, buy a bench drill.

As ever, the delivery of this in a mixed bag of things from Axminster was ace. Free delivery, next day.! Thank you.

Is Anthony real

It strikes me that the positive review by Anthony seems mildly suspicious also plugging another product using your brand and saying matters are rectified when some others think not? Discuss....

Disappointing

After reading the later reviews saying the quality had improved I ordered one. Mine must have been one of the old stock as the bushes are very sloppy in the guide and pretty much useless. If I was living in the UK I would return them as unsuitable, but as I live in NZ the carriage costs more than they cost, so I have chucked them away. Shame as the concept is good.

Handy tool at excellent price

It seems that production quality has improved since the last reviews. The tool I have has no play between the clear plastic guide and the bushes, they are a nice push fit into the bore of the guide which feels slightly tapered. So the guide should work upside-down without the bush being used falling out.

There is a tiny amount of slack between the 4mm centring rod and the 4mm bush, but not enough to cause any problems with lack of accuracy. The bore of the bush is 4.1 to 4.15mm according to my Axminster pocket calipers, enough for a free sliding fit for a 4mm drill bit.

Not quite precise

The play for both the centring device and the collars means you can get the same precision aiming the drill tip at a mark! It is also very easy to knock out of place when changing the collar etc. It might still be useful for rods and edges though.
