In Detail

The TB-16 bench pillar drill is truly designed for engineering and production use. Very heavily built and manufactured to exceptionally accurate tolerances, this drill press will stand up to hard work every day. The headstock has been machined to precisely match the quill housing, virtually eliminating any spindle run-out, even at full quill extension. Because the column is surface ground, the table rise and fall is super smooth in operation, making table height adjustment a light task. The high torque 0.375kW motor drives the spindle via a 9-speed belt drive, with machined steel pulleys eliminating vibration. Safety is provided for by a solidly made chuck guard, electrically interlocked, as is the belt cover. A large emergency stop button, which locks closed automatically, completes the picture. Lighting is provided by an LED lamp with a flexible stem for ease of placement. This high quality bench drill press is designed to meet the demands of engineers, educational establishments and light production workshops.

Great Drill

After a problem with a cheaper Axminster model I decided to go for this drill. It's a real lump of a machine weighing 90kg which for a new drill is something. I struggle to get it up onto the bench I had built for it but soon sorted this with a block and tackle. Took quite a while to clean off all of the shipping protection grease. The stuff was everywhere. Got a layer of protection straight back on once done.

In use what can I say. Wow.

This thing is so much better. No play in the quill and much quieter to use. Some of the castings are a little rough and the paint could perhaps be better but these are things I can easily attend to. Really pleased I went with this model. I would thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic Drill press

I Bought this machine from Axminster in September last year, I don't wright reviews very often but it has to be said this is a brilliant bit of kit.
I use it I for woodworking mainly, for years now manufactures have produced sloppy drill presses for woodwork why? It's beyond me we need accuracy just like engineers do. This in mind I thought I would buy this one, it meets my needs perfectly. So what's so special, well just about everything, no play at the chuck, it's heavy solid and positive in every way, the depth stop can be set in an instant, no messing around with spanners here. The lamp is a nice feature as is the vision guard which cuts the power if opened to get at the chuck, which is in itself a gem and keyless, so quick to change bits but holds with vice like grip. If you think you are paying extra for this drill press believe me you are paying it for
good reason you are sure to be happy with your purchase. The only bad point if having to clean off the clear Vaseline off the table.

Buy one !

After a couple of false starts with another manufacturer, Kevin in sales suggested this machine. Brilliant piece of kit. Built like a tank and a treat to use. Do yourself a favour spend the extra few quid and buy one. But make sure you have help to move it !!
