Description

In Detail

Engineer Classification & 3 Year Guarantee

This is a well specified turret milling machine suited to the small production workshop or engineering facility. It features variable spindle speeds, 3-axis digital read-out (DRO), X axis powerfeed, 3-stage auto quill feed, electrically interlocked chuck guard and a choice of ISO30, ISO40 or R8 spindle. This machine is mainly manufactured from cast iron which provides great rigidity and stability under maximum loads. Ground and hardened slideways guarantee accuracy and are adjustable to accommodate any settling in or wear. The ability to swivel the headstock over 90° and pivot it through 45° gives great flexibility in use. The standard 3-axis DRO makes it much easier to machine to a high level of accuracy. This coupled with the variable spindle speed and a choice of ISO30 , ISO40 or traditional R8 tooling all adds up to a very comprehensive machine, great value for the engineering tuition environment or small production workshop. Optional Y-Axis Powerfeed (211935) is available to purchase, if you would like to have this fitted please call (0800 371822) to have one of our experienced engineers do this for you. N.B. Fitting charge will apply. N.B. Requires a 16A 415V 3ph Supply

Please note, due to the complex nature and set up requirements of these machines, we strongly advise that they are installed by AT & M engineers, please contact the Axminster Business Services Team, 0800 371822 or abst@axminster.co.uk for quotations on supply, delivery and installation.

Excellent Value for Money

After looking at used equipment prices, we opted to buy a new "lower end" mill, the entire purchase and delivery process ran smoothly, and so does the mill, we opted for the iso 40 version because of th ewide range of low cost tooling from many suppliers (even though the spindle is perhaps undersized to take proper advantage of the larger tool holders), this means we had to make some drawbar adapters (one is supplied with the mill, M12 female to M16 male, but it's hard to remember which tool has the adapter fitted), not a big hassle. The professionalism of teh delivery guy and the fitting team (as well as the sales team) was outstanding, great attention to detail from all.
We've been running the machine daily for over a month now, and it's a pleasure to see how well it deals with large tools (5 inch face cutter with shallow cuts in steel. or 20mm end mill making 5mm doc also in steel), we opted to take the default X only powerfeed, and this gives true mirror finishes in aluminium on slow feeds with aluminium-specific face cutters. The automatic quill feed (and depth stop) is a dream for drilling and boring. I've added a third party scale for the quill to augment the excellent 3-axis DRO provided as standard (the knee-based DRO for Z works great for milling, but it's hard with my eyes to use the quill scale provided - the micrometer physical stop is perfect, but hard to know what depth it will kick in without an exteranl stop in my hands/eyes :)) - all round we're very impressed with the abilities of the machine and the ability of Axminster to deliver it (physically and economically).
