Description

In Detail

These clamps are reliable and effective, you can never have enough. Their box joint design ensures both strength and correct alignment of the jaws. A spring-loaded pawl engages onto a toothed steel bar as the handles are squeezed together giving positive non-slip clamping with a pressure of 35 to 40kg. Simply pressing the lever between the handles releases the clamp. The handles have non-slip moulded inserts to increase grip and the shape makes them easy to squeeze. The jaw pads have a cross vee to clamp round or irregular pieces. The pads swivel for even contact even when clamping non-parallel surfaces.

OK but

Low friction pads means they don't grip well until under considerable pressure and that, with the larger size, would be difficult for anyone with small hands.

Power clamps

Bought as a set of four on special offer. Without doubt the most USELESS tools in my shop. Don't grip, when released flies to full open! Just brake u room on clamp rack. Would never buy again. Come on Axminster, you can do better then these. Never had a problem with Axminster purchases befor.

Not worth buying

Bought four of these in a deal. You can never have too many clamps? Well you can if they don't work! The clamping face is hard patterned plastic that has no grip on the wood I tried to clamp. If you could exert enough pressure to prevent movement then the jaws would leave an indentation on the wood face. Luckily you can't exert enough pressure. Which means the wood is not held strongly enough for any practical purpose. I was attempting to use my Kreg pocket hole jig at the time. Resorted to an old G-clamp!

could do better

Glad i bought these clamps when on offer as i've not used these ratchet style afore. To be honest its a nice idea but unfortunately not so in practice if you want a G-clamp like grip - these wont give you that. However they are useful for non 'death grip' glue jobs where you dont want a huge amount of pressure exerted on the work piece. The ratchet action also allows them to be used single handed whiles holding the job with the other which is very useful. All in all i wouldnt fall over to order more [i have six] but i wouldnt send them back for a refund either!
[Thanks to Jake G for the advice on making robot hands - my wee one now thinks i'm completely bonkers! lol]

Disappointing

A nice idea but not well executed. The contact surface is very low friction and the clamping pressure is low. I brought two of the larger size and can't think of any instance when I tried to put them to use and they worked as I wanted. I was unsure whether or not to buy and now, truth be told, feel as tho I wasted my money.
