Exudes black gunk

Just used this again and got annoyed enough to write a review. This thing comes covered in black gunk. Of course it needs oil, but the combination of oil and black paint really makes this unusable. You clean it up, then as soon as you swivel the protractor, it exudes more. It marks everything it comes into contact with.

I also find the corners very rough to handle.

It's well-made, no doubt (though the protractor was slightly off when I bought it -- 0 deg and 180 deg didn't line up).

In a metal workshop, where oil and grease are par for the course, it'll be fine, but in a home or woodworking setting, it's a bit heavy duty. Think Isambard Kingdom Brunel, not Steve Jobs.

Most important tool

I'm a new woodworker, but I'm aware that the square is considered one of the most important tools, if not the most. So when I was considering which to buy I found dozens of horror stories, but was convinced to buy a combination square because of the ability to correct it if it was out of square. There was no need with this, it was bang on the day I got it and it's still bang on now.

Great Square

An absolutely outstanding set. Everything is neatly finished and well made, there's nothing to complain about at all.

Accurate and well finished

This is a nicely made and well finished set. The markings are easy to read, but fine enough to give good accuracy. It has a very nice weight and a good solid feel. It comes in a nice plastic case with foam inserts to stop it getting dinged. I'm looking forward to years of reliable use.
