Ever tried drilling a pilot hole for a screw by eye in a hinge countersunk hole? 95% are sure to be off-centre with the screws ending up crooked. For perfectly aligned hinge screw pilot holes the conical nose of the bit sits in the hinges countersunk hole making it virtually impossible to drill anywhere other than in the exact centre. When pushed the spring-loaded nose retracts allowing the actual drill bit to bore the pilot hole. The drill bits are high speed steel for longevity and quality results. The nose piece features three slots ensuring there is sufficient clearance to prevent clogging in use. Each bit is clearly marked with its size for identification. The universal 1/4" hex shank is compatible with all quick change systems drill/drive systems.

Works well but keep an eye on the flutesI am using this on 100mm hinges and it does a good job and I am glad I brought it. I have quite a few hinges to drill and think I should have ordered a spare drill.

Expected BetterWhen the Snappy version of this snapped the actual drill, I was having trouble getting a long series drill in a hurry. This version with the Centotec type shank appealed and the build quality seemed and turned out to be, better. But … There is not enough taper on the point. It does not fit the screw hole in anything less that a 75mm hinge. It will not centre and given that it is only a 2mm drill you will be wanting to use for small screws. An otherwise excellent product spoiled by the overlarge flat on the end. At first opportunity I will be returning it.
