This is a stand-alone thicknesser with a very useful capacity but of compact design. Quite substantially manufactured and amply powered by a 2.75kW industrial quality motor, this is a very useful machine to have in any workshop. Able to produce a very high quality finish due to the speed of the knife block and the variable speed feed rate giving 5-7m/min feed speeds. The large cast iron thicknessing table features a central column with a locking mechanism to prevent any movement. With a maximum capacity of 410 x 225mm but able to take workpieces down to 6mm thick and only 200mm long, a wide variety of work can be undertaken. A great machine for floorboard and frame manufacturing. An optional digital height read-out allows accurate timber sizing. NB Requires 16A supply.

Great piece of kitCan't fault this - takes great slabs through nice and quickly, no snipe on smaller pieces, really good finish. Very pleased. And the delivery man was incredibly helpful too - well done Axminster!

Good valueI have just opened a new joinery in Plymouth and purchased several machines from Axminster including this thicknesser, we have used it daily over the last 2 months, all seems to work fine. We have had only one minor problem and that is if you run it for a little while the power plug into the machine vibrates lose and falls off, thus turning the machine off. However all in all a good machine

excellent valueI have owned this Thicknesser for four months and it has been in daily use right from the start. It is incredibly simple to operate, very compact in size, and extremely robust. I have been putting a wide range of stock through, a lot of softwood which does occasionally clog up in the extraction tunnel if the feed rate is too fast, a lot of oak, which it seems to love, and various other hardwoods. Generally speaking the hardwoods perform best, but there are no problems with softwood if the feed rate is adjusted and also the grill found in most extractors, at the point where the hose hooks on, is actually removed. I guess the grill is to stop large items from going through the blades in the extractor, but this seems quite unlikely with thicknessing, and the softwood flakes cling on to it. Since cutting out the grill I have had no trouble with softwood. One problem experienced was the complete disintegration of the sleeving on the out feed roller, which Axminster replaced quite happily. I am sure I didn't put anything through which might have damaged the sleeving, and I can't really account for this, but it was easy enough to replace and so far no further trouble. Overall a really strong machine which can handle all likely sizes of timber in a smallish workshop and seems to run quite happily all day if required.Very good value and I expect to have this machine for many years.
