Description

In Detail

Superfast, single-handed clamping. Simply squeeze the trigger to advance the movable jaw forward. The ratchet-type mechanism produces a significant amount of pressure. With an Axminster Trade Solo clamp, you can hold work pieces in position with one hand whilst tightening the clamp with the other. Non-marking plastic faces on the jaws prevent damage to your work. Jobs requiring large numbers of clamps take just a few minutes.

Good value genuine-Cox clamps, but please use them appropriately!

Although painted grey, and badged Axminster, these are genuine Cox Solo clamps, just like the Cox-badged orange versions.

There are lots of copies on the market, but please take it from someone time-served that they do not perform as well and it is absolutely work paying a little extra for genuine Cox clamps, which means either Cox-badged orange ones, or Axminster-badged grey ones made by Cox.

I have only 2 negative things to say about genuine Cox solo clamps (orange or grey) and they are:

1) They should not be used for critical tasks such as securing a masons mitre jig to a worktop, for routing - for this, you should really use a proper G-clamp, as it can apply substantially more force and is less vulnerable to accidentally 'letting-go' during the mission-critical routing. Please take this advice seriously, if you wish to avoid costly mistakes. Worktop laminate is very slippery and requires substantial & reliable force, to avoid slippage of the jig. Solo clamps are very useful, and generally reliable for most tasks, but they have their limitations.

2) The pound has slipped against the dollar, during 2017, and materials costs have no doubt increased, for UK manufacturers, as a consequence. However, I was annoyed at the *degree* to which the price of these Cox Solo clamps suddenly increased - they went up by approximately 75%! That didn't sit well with me. Consequently, I am pleased to see that they have gone back down to a sensible price in the past week or so (early May)

Overall, these are a good product and I recommend them for day-to-day, light-to-medium duty, quick clamping jobs.

Good cheap clamps

Very good clamps for the money. Compared to quick release clamps I have tried in shops for a similar price there is not comparison.
