Proven Itself

I bought this axe from the Axminster branch five years ago. For the money I can't fault it.
The edge is a little soft and needs looking after but it is easy to get sharp with a file and polish with a fine stone and leather strop. If possible get a leather cover made to protect the edge, it's well worth it.
I have used this axe constantly for splitting kindling, smaller logs stripping bark from logs, shaping spikes on posts to go in the ground and even for scraping a deer hide. The handle is now loose but that is mainly because a friend used it as a hammer.
If you know how to sharpen an axe then you won't be disappointed by this little chap, kept in good condition it will serve you well.
The downside is the bright orange colour, slightly short handle and lack of a decent cover for the head.

Goto small chopper

I like mine a lot, I sharpened it and the steel is good. Its my favourite axe for odd jobs and small carving, I have axes that cost x5 more. I broke the shaft beating the hell out of it. You don't get perfect for this money, but neither are you afraid to use, modify or repair it.
