Bad batch perhaps on Damiens review?

We've used Crown mallets for the last 6 years on an almost daily basis along with ripping chisels to strip upholstery off furniture and have not had any problems - the original mallets are still in use and still going strong

Faulty design

I'm onto my second crown mallet after the first one's head came loose after a couple of whacks against a chisel. Said it to Axminister who immediately dispatched a replacement no questions asked with their usual friendly efficiency.

Unfortunately it's proved not to be a once off. To be fair second one has lasted a bit longer but not by much. Only heavy duty work was 5 mortices in mahogany. Basically all that was asked was it do the job it's designed to do and it's failed not once but twice.
