Originally trained as a mechanic, Antony spent time working in the Plant Hire trade in customer-facing roles always with a strong customer service element.
During his nine years with Axminster Tools and Machinery, Anthony has worked within Customer Service, Export Sales, and Technical Sales dealing mostly with Educational customers.
Away from the office Antony is to be found in his shed working on any number of creative projects and believes that ‘hands-on’ is often the best way to develop a close understanding of the tools we supply.
"The most important skill in my role", says Antony "is listening to my customers needs. This helps me to understand their business and to recommend and demonstrate products that will enhance their way of working."
The key for Antony is developing working relationships with his customers, believing that regular personalised contact helps support sustained growth and success for their businesses. As he says, "It's all about adding value."
South East & London District Techinical Field Sales
Shaye served his time as a wood machining and chair making apprentice with a large furniture manufacturer in High Wycombe - considered to be the home of the furniture industry in the United Kingdom.
He then moved into the construction sector undertaking carpentry, joinery and even some dry lining.
Shaye has been with the Business Services team for 2 years and prides himself on excellent customer service, always going the extra mile to help customers, no matter how big or small, to achieve their ambitions.
From time-to-time he still likes to escape to his workshop and ‘keep his hand in’ making furniture for himself, family and friends - all helping to refresh the skills and knowledge which customers appreciate.
Midlands & Wales Technical Field Sales
Donal studied Furniture Design and Craftsmanship in High Wycombe before entering the local furniture and joinery trades. For a time he co-managed a joinery workshop specialising in oak windows and doors and educational furniture.
Now in his seventh year with Axminster, Donal was previously Deputy Store manager at Nuneaton - an experience which he says provided a broad base of in-depth product knowledge, demonstration expertise and honed his customer relations skills.
Having joined the Business Services team in 2014, Donal now takes his knowledge and customer-focused thinking out on the road.
The businesses he deals with value his appreciation of their day-to-day operational needs and his ability to provide sound advice on all aspects of tools and machinery relevant to their woodworking and other trade requirements.
Always positive in his approach and always smiling, Donal describes himself as ‘friendly and unassuming’ and is motivated by customers that are happy and well informed.
