In Detail

N.B. Each kit is supplied as the components only and does not include the material / blank.

Most kitchenware shops are now offering salt and pepper mills utilising ceramic mechanisms. The reason for this is that they are durable, adjustable and much more efficient than similar products. The CrushGrind® mechanisms that we sell are available as a shaftless version (CrushGrind Wood) and three versions with a shaft (CrushGrind Shaft). The shaft can be reduced in length for a shorter mill if required. CrushGrind® are like no other grinders, their unique ceramic mechanism allows you to grind almost anything, including salt, pepper, coffee, herbs and spices. The mechanisms are fully adjustable from fine to coarse with 14 settings in total and the ceramic parts are guaranteed for 25 years. No glues or screws are necessary for making the mills and a special recess tool from Crown is available for shaping the inside of the blank for insertion of the mechanism. Instructions available as a download.

Good in all respects

I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I have made a couple of dozen of these over about five years and have no negative reports. A speciality is the ship's pepper mill where the ceramic mechanism survives the wet salty environment well. The shape of course resembles that of a ships decanter with a wide base. I also have a shop-bought mill using this mechanism which predates my woodturning career. It has been going strong for at least 15 years.

not up to scratch

there is no way these mechanisms will last 25 yrs under normal usage.. i have made quite a few with both crush grind and chef speciality systems . the 25yr guarantee is coming back to haunt me from several customers ..... they cant all be doing it wrong!!! the chef speciality ones at least out last the crush gind.... in any case how does one call in this guarantee??
