In Detail

Festool 3 Year Warranty (Registration Required)

For owners of other Festool 18V system tools, the HKC 55 comes as a basic machine, without batteries and charger. The HKC 55 gives you precision coupled with independence. The EC-TEC brushless motor delivers more than enough power for the saw’s 55mm maximum depth of cut. The HKC 55 is ideal for rip or cross cuts. The HKC 55 saw can make plunge cuts, simply push the lever and set the desired cutting depth using the clearly visible and easy-to-read scale, then release. You can make plunge cuts to an exact depth easily and conveniently. The FastFix blade change allows quick, one-handed tool-less changing of the blade, saving time and improving quality by working with a blade matched to the material. A hinged blade cover allows clear blade and cut line visibility. The HKC 55 becomes even more versatile when combined with an FSK cross cut guide rail or FS1400/2 guide rail.

Absolutely fantastic saw; recommend it highly

Really pleased with this saw. It cuts cleanly, is accurate, and is a pleasure to use. I've had it over 6 months now, and have run it through its paces.

I also bought the dust bag (not for sale on Axminster -- don't know why), which is useful in situations where you don't have dust extraction. Using a dust extractor is much better, but still not perfect -- you do still have to do some cleaning-up afterwards.

I bought the finer blade (also not for sale on Axminster -- don't know why), which gave an excellent finish on a laminate worktop that I had to cut. The wrong (upper) side was as good as the right (under) side. Really nice quality (and better that the standard all-purpose blade that comes as standard).

I use it with a Festool rail system, which gives really good straight cuts. Also use a pair of UJK Technology Dog Rail Clips -- which clip on to a pair of Veritas Parf Dogs -- which help with horizontal alignment on my work bench. All useful additions.

This is my first circular saw and it's kicked off a whole load of DIY activity that would never have been possible without it. It also kicked off a whole load of other Festool purchases. Inevitable with Festool, it seems!
