not worth it

I Just think that Festool think too much.
Their tools are very easy to use and adjust but they are temperamental and ultimately fragile.
It's the difference between a twitchy thourghbred race horse and a solid reliable work horse.
I'm guessing that the reviewers above haven't had them long.
They look great. There spec is great. the gadgets are great..........but only while they work.
All fur coat and no knickers. go and buy a solid Trend.

Best on the Market

I'm Really big on Festool, they produce some real show stoppers in the power tool market (Domino, Rotex, Kapex Eb-Plus Planer) to name a few. I had been in the market for another 1/2" in heavy for several months and debating several market leading brands, finally had to make the plunge (Excuse the pun) Whilst the Festool offering was the most expensive the depth of plunge was my deciding factor, the only bit of kit capable of plunging the full depth required on the 100+ mortice locks that needed fitting on a contract I was working on. Coupled with the Trend Mortice Lock Jig the additional cost was soon offset with reduced labour time spent on each lock, recovering the overall cost of both bits of kit on this contract alone. (5-10 minutes per lock)
Again another excellent piece of kit by festool.

Excellent machine, well balanced, high quality ...heavy however

I am a big Festool fan and now only buy Festool. This is a superbly engineered machine, but given its power it is by definition heavy. I also have the lighter duty Festool OF1010 router and I use this much more but when I am using large 1/2 inch (12mm) shank big profile router bits on oak or hard woods I need to use the OF 2200 and I am glad that I have it on these occasions.....it avoids those black scorch marks.

I also have other pro 1/2inch routers from Elu / Dewalt that is fitted into a router table but I prefer the Festool for freehand and use with the Festool rail as it is better balanced in my view

I have the fine adjuster accessory which was reasonable in price ....so I am not sure what other reviewers are referring to. I believe that this tool should be considered as part of a system and you need to have the Festool rail and the associated tracking adapter accessory. You may wish to consider the US Micro Fence product, which gives you highly accurate adjustment with the Festool rail, plus otionally you can make circles and elipses etc. I wish Festool would offer such a product.

Fence should be included

this router isn't a toy its built to last, only one draw back it doesn't come with a parallel side fence as standard. When I'm paying in excess of £650.00 I would have expected it to be included. Now I'm going to have to pay an extra £282.50 for the accessory kit when I only need the fence, bit of a con if you ask me.

It is worth it!

I agree with the first review. This is an excellent machine, the accuracy of the adjusters is great. Buy it with the accessory set, a guide rail and you will not look back.
