Festool 1,400mm Guide Rail
The combination of a Festool circular saw and the Festool Guide Rail creates a superb system for cutting sheet materials. The guide rail has two PTFE strips embedded into them to allow the tool to slide smoothly on the rail. On the underside of the rail there are two neoprene strips which hug the surface of the material, reducing slippage. There is also a special rubber strip on the underside which is used to minimise splintering on the top surface of the board. This strip is cut by the saw blade on the first cut and thereafter supports the upper face of the material whilst it is being cut.

Over 9 years so farThis was the first Festool product I bought back in September 2007.....it is still going strong over 9 years later and has seen 3 other routers come and go in that time which, given that it does the bulk of the work, is very impressive. I recently took off the various cover plates to blow out the years of dust build up with an air line and was impressed that it all looks in great shape still. In use: superb adjustments, one hand ability: a truely well designed and made machine.....and if you stood my 9+ year old machine next a new one? They look the same - Festool have changed nothing in that time, even the model name remains - they had it all right from the start.
