In Detail

With a bow handle grip, the CARVEX PSB 420 has a new guide system and is more powerful motor than its predecessor the PS400 model. The blade is guided in three ways with a new lower guide that can be adjusted to 'kiss' the blade. A powerful hammer guide contained within the body of the machine ensures accuracy. Combined with a choice of four pendulum stroke actions and speed selection, you can be assured of a smooth, precise cutting action, designed to work hard in a range of materials with the right choice of blade. The powerful cutting stroke is driven from the Festool EC-TEC brushless motor, it is compact in design and one of the lightest on the market at only 1.9kg. An adjustable strobe light is also a great feature. Effective dust extraction draws dust away from the cutline via connection to a dust extractor from the outlet in the base. The Festool unique plug-it cable can be turned upwards in more confined spaces and is easily unplugged for tool change or storage. The on/off switching can be worked via the handle from either side of the body for dual use. Supplied with a standard removable base that can be replaced with a choice of either a tilting 0- 45° angled base or a base adaptor that allows you to connect guide rails or circular guide; a quick lock ensures no tools are required for base or blade changing. Angle base and adaptor bases are optional accessories.

This ‘Plus’ version is supplied with 2 saw blades, splinter guard, base runner for delicate surfaces LAS-STF and Systainer T-LOC SYS 1 storage case.

carvex festool jigsaw

i am very disappointed with this product trigger button on handle is unresponsive and have to grip far too tightly to use at a normal speed.
it is really difficult to see blade because of extra guide on blade which obstructs view. Poor all round, old makita 18v jigsaw knocks socks off it!! all other festool products I own are brilliant jigsaw very poor.

festool carvex 420

wow a £250 jigsaw that won't cut square , i just bought this as I like festool tools and have had no issues with all my other tools but this jigsaw is hopeless , I got it to replace my ancient bosch 620 from the 80s which has always cut dead square in any material with any old blade so I was expecting the festool to at least be comparable, like I said at the beginning wow this thing will not cut square with any festool blade or bosch blade in any thickness timber at any speed , iv just spend 4hrs trying because I can't belive it , cut a piece 18mm ply with old bosch perfect cut , carvex wanders off the line and will not cut square ! to cap it all in the end one of the tungsten blade guide clamps has fallen off ! I looks like it was just glued in place ! obviously I will be sending this piece of crap back ASAP will probably get a
another bosch instead. I don't normally put reviews up especially negative one but in this case I just can't stop myself this tool could have done anything else and I would probably have kept it but not cutting square I just can't live with .

Blade wander

I bought this jigsaw, as I had had issues with Bosch's top line jigsaw ( tried 3 ) that being gross blade wander ( see the review)
So it had to be the Festool , as I need a jigsaw that will cut perpendicular , being a cabinet maker / boat restorer.

I cannot believe that the same issue has arisen , namely non right angle cuts ,even on soft wood no more that 2 inches thick, not even close!

I have adjusted the guides, used high quality Festool blades, with both pendulum on & off , all to no avail, So I decided to put a square onto the sole & look at the angle.. way off being a right angle ( the blade being clamped in the guide)

Also there is an annoying delay. on the switch. at this price not up to standard.

Is there a hex on me. as I see all the fine reviews others have posted .. I am not a natural complainer, but have been forced into this position, I am getting tired of ruined work, loss of time & waiting for yet another jigsaw to be returned.

Axminster, have been as always helpful, but they must dread my phone calls now (I'm quite nice ..really!)

An excellent machine

I am a big fan of Festool so when my professional type jigsaw gave up the ghost after many years I bought the new Festool model. I opted for the 220V version as in my experience batteries do NOT last for ever in hand held tools, while the 220V power lead does not really get in the way.
I am delighted with the ease of changing blades (no screwdriver needed!), the excellence of Festo blades...that cut very fast / very straight and leave a clean edge. The guide system is simply unbelievable ...it stops blade drift, which was always an issue with my previous jig saw that then forced some time consuming hand finishing. This simply does NOT happen with the Festool jig saw.

The balance is excellent and much preferred by all who have used it. I have separately invested in the accessory base to use with the Festo guide rail and that too works well. I note that there are several bases available and an accessory box of bit and pieces however I am not so sure that these are necessary and I can manage most things without them. The thing surprised me in its ability to cut through 65mm thick pine wood as if it were butter. I highly recommend this tool.
