Dreadful product

A seriously weak link for the excellent quality tools. We have a couple of festoon power tools in our workshop but these leads are constantly breaking. Considering how little we use our festoon stuff I would expect the leads to last many years but I buy at least two or three of theses a year. Like all the Festool range they don't come cheap so this is a serious failure on their part that needs sorting out.

Good product

I have had my plug-it cable on my festool saw for over 10 years no problems until recently. Problem turned out to be on the normal uk plug end.
It would be nice if festool would make these so you can take them apart to check connections - other wise its a wasteful product. You should just be able to buy the plug it plug on its own and rewire.

Terrible

This may be a nice idea but Festool missed the mark by a country mile with these. The pins break off meaning you go and buy another one, unless like many people you cut it off and solder direct into the power tool. Wake Wakey festool this is damaging your reputation..

No problems for me.

I have been using same cable now on all of my festal tools of which I have few now for over a year and a half. it is permanently plugged in to my CTL Midi and clipped to the extraction hose since i purchased my TS55 REQ saw in November 2012. I is all about how you store it . I have seen them being literally shoved in to the sustainer any how. My Buddy has had his 3mm orbital sander for 11 years now and only recently replaced his cable because its outer shell stated to perish and was deemed unsafe by PAT tester guy. other than that it was in good working order.

my advice would be. Unplug it from the machine before putting it away, coil cable into apron 5" and nicely without bending it to tight put it inside the case. before plugging back in to the machine, check for any debris/dust (both male and female sides) and if anything there, blow it out.

Hope this helps with looking after your cables.
