Not reliable.

Check thrice as not pinpoit accurate everytime (what I expected for the price). Needs a light. These will go in the box and get abused and I'll save up for a starret to love and cherish.

digital readout accuracy totally unreliable

I've put up with these for around six months, taking the battery out and waiting a minute to recalibrate as per the instructions, but I still have to check every measurement so what's the point of paying for batteries? I'm going to send them back and try a different make.

good if youv'e got endless battery supply....

I purchased a similar axcaliber vernier several years ago. I was pleased with the display and build quality but I had to replace the battery within approx. 4 months whilst it was hardly used. Fine, once is ok twice maybe iffy batteries but a third one just out of warranty made me suspicious, so I measured the consumption which was 0.2mA in the "off" state and "on" state, in effect turning it off just blanks the display. So it resides in a cupboard in pieces until a small enough switch can be found. I purchased the GemRed unit as its' replacement , however suspicions already aroused , measured this to find exactly the same problem, turning it off doesn't! My watch is mechanical/lcd and the battery lasts 4 to 5 years.
There are design issues with an lcd unit which when turned off uses the same energy. I will be returning this unit and waiting for a offer on the dial type as it doesn't require batteries! and whenever you pick it up to use it , it'll work! . Axminster shop and staff are excellent!

excellant piece of kit

Sturdy well built vernier that has a handy auto on so as soon as you move the caliper it comes on rather than having to press the "on/off" button. It also turns itself off after a few minutes like most of them do. It also has a larger display than my previous verniers. All in all I like it a lot and worth the money...
