Description

In Detail

Very useful dual purpose clamp and guide rails. Used as a guide rail, they can be clamped across the width of a board to provide a firm straight edge to guide a jigsaw, router or circular saw and as a clamp they can be used to provide light pressure when gluing up multi-board panels. Two clamps bolted back-to-back will grip both the bench and the work at the same time, leaving both hands free to work with the tools. A pair of nuts and bolts are supplied with the clamp for this purpose.

Excellent for the price.

I bought a long pair of these many years ago and have used them for guiding my circular saw, Jig saw and router as well as clamping things together. Can't say I've seen any movement in them. Only problem I had was I broke one of the plastic clamps but that was due to storage not use. At the time Axminster didn't list replacement parts for these in their catalogue or on the website so I was pretty annoyed I'd broken one. However, I got on the phone and was told yes, we do have spares, got the part numbers and bought a few of each plastic part just in case I did it again. The only other problem I had was the original long ones I bought were a bit clumsy on small jobs so I bought two of each of the other sizes as their a good price.

Brilliant! Thanks Axminster.

not too sturdy

I bought these some time back. I would not trust them to stay in position - they move by about 1mm. I like them for some applications, but never for accurate work.

Overall good value

ordered two of these clamps at the special offer price. very solid main rail, the clamping parts are made of plastic but alsong as you look after your tools i dont see this being a problem. The only thing letting these clamps down is when clamped there is movement of the rail making them not suitable for accurte fence work. The movement isnt a huge amount and maybe im a perfectionist but i expected better, i may be able to modify the clamp to get rid of this. Overall they are very good for the money and i would buy more for clamping purposes.

Good claps

these are really good. a slight niggle is that the clamp part does tend to sit slightly above the work surface, unless you pay special attention and push both ends down.
I was going to say the lever gets in the way, then I realised you can of course just turn the clamp round the other way. Doh!

Perform Guide Clamp

Works well in operation - but - end assembly made of brittle plastic. One I bought recently fell on edge from about 18" and end shattered. Clamp now useless!
