Description

In Detail

Covering a range of sizes, these adjustable boring bits will take away the need to have lots of drill bit sizes in your tool box. The size can easily be set with the movable cutter that has graduations etched into it, the cutter is then locked. The outer scribe cuts a clean splinter-free edge whilst the centre point helps to hold the drill accurately and the cutter provides a shearing action to remove waste very effectively. They can leave a flat bottomed hole or go straight through your work. Suitable for hard and soft wood for use in a cordless or mains tool and when working on a lathe. 34-80mm, 1/2" shank, 115mm effective drilling depth, 157mm overall length.

Excellent Drill Bit

First - The photo shown here is not the right one. The drill bit looks like the one shown for the Axcaliber Adjustable TCT Boring Bit.
It is a really substantial bit and well able to take the torque require for an 80mm diameter hole. I was drilling a series of holes in a beam and it needed sharpening a couple of times. Then I considered that I had filled my 30 litre vacuum twice so it was good for the amount of cutting it had done. Resharpening it is an easy job just rubbing it on an oil stone.
It needs a serious amount of power to drive it for 80mm holes. My 700watt Bosch drill in low gear was not really up to the job and had to be left to cool down frequently. It managed ok when the size was only 60mm.
