In Detail

Package deal comprises the Jet 3520B Woodturning Lathe, the Axminster Evolution SK114 Woodturning Chuck, plus the 114mm C Jaws

Jet 3520B Woodturning Lathe
The Jet 3520B lathe is equipped with precision ground bedways and the headstock and tailstock are 13mm thick cast iron with positive cam action locking devices. The heavy duty cast iron headstock is designed to travel up and down the entire length of the bed of the lathe, which allows the turning of very large diameter work at the tailstock end of the lathe. The safety spindle lock makes it easy to remove faceplates and chucks, and built-in indexing offers 36 positions (10°) on the spindle. The 2-step, 10 groove Poly-V belt transmits full power from the motor to the spindle at all speeds while providing extra long belt life and ultra smooth running. A forward and reverse switch is a useful feature, especially when sanding timbers with interlocking grain and the ergonomic handles allow easy lifting of the motor for fast speed range changes. Two ratios are available enabling high torque at low rpm and, with electronic speed control via an inverter, you can fine tune the speed of the lathe to suit the work in hand by the turn of a knob. The magnetic remote ON/OFF switch can be positioned anywhere along the lathe bed and comparator centres for copy work are a very useful feature. The 460mm bed extension is available as an optional extra and can be attached in two positions, the lower position giving a massive 490mm(19.1/4") centre height above the extension. If you want to buy a great lathe that will not need upgrading at a later date, then this lathe is a sound investment.
N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used.

Evolution SK114 Woodturning Chuck
The concept and design of the Evolution SK114 chuck was born from our desire to create the best woodturning chuck possible. It features a super-slim stainless steel body incorporating newly designed longer accessory mounting jaws. These low profile jaws offer a greater contact area within the slideways of the chuck, minimising vibration during use. The ultra-compact design keeps the workpiece as close as possible to the headstock of your lathe to lessen the load on the bearings and prevent unwanted vibration during heavy stock removal. Indexing is achieved by 24 peripheral slots and 36 holes within these on the chuck backplate, giving the option of 10° or 15° indexing. The Evolution is fully compatible with all accessory mounting jaws and is the first of a new series of chucks and jaws. We are very proud of our new Axminster chuck which should give you many years of reliable service.

Type C 114mm Dovetail Jaws
A larger diameter version of one of our most versatile and popular jaw sets, the Evolution 114mm C type jaws expand into a 69mm dovetailed recess and have a stepped shoulder for an internal grip onto a 56mm spigot diameter. These given dimensions are when the jaws form a true circle and offer the best grip. Recommended range: 50-70mm internal, 65-85mm external. Especially useful for small bowls and end grain work such as boxes and goblets. Useful accessories for these jaws include the screw chucks/faceplate drives, faceplate rings and morse taper carriers which allow the fitting of drive centres without removing the chuck from the lathe.
