This lathe is a perfect fit for a small workshop.
I make a variety of bespoke joinery from a standard size garage and could not dedicate space for a full size lathe.
I done a lot of research and decided on the mini Jet, and so pleased I did as it is a joy to use. I can only confirm what others have said about it being so smooth and quiet. Do not be put off by the manual speed change, as once you get used to it in a very short time, you can change the belt without even looking at which pulley you are touching.
The main reason for purchasing the lathe is that it is perfect for your bench top. It is heavy enough to use without securing to the bench , but light enough to store under the bench when not in use.
I fully recommend this item, buy one as they are great value for the money.
You will not be disappointed

I have had this little lathe for six years now and it has done quite a lot of work. I really can't fault it for the price. Even when turning right up to capacity in both directions the motor still manages very well, and at the other end of the scale it is accurate when doing very fine work. I recently detected some wear in the headstock bearings and replaced the Chinese ones with better quality (dead easy to do) but this was after lots of use (an abuse)
I could recommend this lathe to anyone.

Tremendous. Quiet, stable, accurate and just light enough to lift on and off the bench without doing oneself an injury.
