In Detail

Beautiful bevel edge chisels from Wilhelm Schmitt of Remscheid, Germany. The blades are made from their own specially developed high carbon steel, ground and fully polished, including the all important back of the chisel which is the bit that really matters. The handle is a traditional octagonal continental shape from hornbeam with both top and bottom ferrule. In addition the top is fitted with a hammer button. These chisels are designed and manufactured by a company with over 135 years of experience in producing some of the finest tools in the world.

Great chisels

I bought one last year, was impressed and recently added another one to my kit. The blade is polished to a brilliant finish and maintains a keen edge which is readily restored to razor sharpness with a leather strop. The real hardwood handle feels comfortable and comes with a striking cap and ring, although it’s not the sort of chisel you’d want to whack with a hammer - more the occasional tap with a light wooden mallet. A good quality chisel for the price.

Super Chisels

I've used these for years, they are super, they hold their edge very well, feel really nice in your hand and are very light too. The highly polished blade cuts very well and it's super easy to clean off bits of dried on glue etc.

Value and Quality

I brought the 6 piece set and was very impressed. the steel holds an edge so well. I have had none of the problems Mr S. Morton mentoined above. They are so good i brought the rest.

Try something else

Cheap with good reason. Handle not square to blade, not even close (overall length 260mm but with at least 5mm bend). Probably ok for stirring paint, but not much else. Put your money towards something decent, but don't expect this to be it.

Kirschen 1002

For the price I doubt you will find anything anywhere near as good - let alone better. The hornbeam handles are a delight and the steel cuts as well as any I've tried.
