Made in Germany by the Wilhelm Schmitt Company, the blade of this chisel is hardened and tempered over the full length and is fitted with a tough hornbeam handle that is octagonal in shape which is not only comfortable in the hand but also prevents the tool from rolling off the bench. The sweep shown opposite is for illustration purposes only (not to scale) showing the impression that would be made by the tool's edge.

kirschen woodcarving gougesI bought my first Kirschen gouges more by luck than judgement -but have been extremely satisfied wioth all of them. The steel is hard, keeps its edge well so I don't buff up as much as others in my class, so they'll last me indefinitely. the flat edges on the handles stop them rolling away. I would give them my wholehearted support and recommendation as superb tools that will last a lifetime
