The Carcass Saw is used for precise cuts across the grain, cutting tenon shoulders, and defining the edges of a dado. It has 14 points per 25mm, filed crosscut, for cutting quickly, yet accurately and smoothly. The blade is 0.5mm (.020") thick, with a 0.07mm (.003") set. Overall length, including handle, is 480mm (19"), with usable blade dimensions of 350mm (14") long with a 57mm (2.1/4") depth of cut. An ideal complement to the Dovetail Saw again based on an English pattern of the 1830s.

OutstandingFor years I've dreamed of owning Lie Nielson tools but always thought...ah, there can't be that much difference between these and regular tools. I recently bought this saw, a low angle plane and some chisels. OMG, the difference is beyond anything I could have imaged. They are so sharp, accurate and feel so wonderful in the hand. If you modify your regular sawing technique (ie pushing a blunter saw) and just let the weight of the saw cut you get results as if they came off the chop saw! I keep marking out on lengths of timber just to test it. It's cutting pure and straight everytime. Even though I have powertools I'm jumping to this each time. What a pleasure. And as for the cost. This is going to last you a lifetime, and give you pleasure each time you use. It's well worth it.
