Indispensible tool

This small low-angle block plane is indispensable for trimming and finishing work. Despite being made of bronze I find it is the perfect weight for holding in one hand whilst being large enough for two-handed use. The mouth is nice and tight so this is a plane for taking fine, finishing shavings.

Just feel right

Have bought a couple of Lie Nielsen items now and they just feel right. Weight, size etc, are spot on for the tool and the work they do. Wood working is getting an expensive hobby, but will last until I am in my box I reckon.

Lie Nielsen 102 bronze blockplane

Spent months going in store handling veritas vs Nielsen! Went for the LN for looks and primarily feel in hand ! I never really saw the potential or purpose of a block plane BUT have now used this little gem more than most tools in my workshop! It puts a smile on my face every time I use it! As so many have said before - owning one LN will only lead to a very expensive but truly gratifying addiction!

Excellent

i own several Veritas planes, all of them fantastic. However I decided to buy the 102 just because I liked the look of it.
Well, I was not disappointed. I built a tool chest using 18 mm birch ply cutting dovetails as the joinery method. I used the plane to trim the dovetails flush with the veneer of the pl, which is always tricky. It was like a knife through butter, it never faltered. If it can trim the edge plywood to that degree it will handle just about anything else.
Outstanding tool as you would expect from Lie Nielsen
