Description

In Detail

The No. 62 combines the benefits of a bevel-up 12° blade mounting angle, a set-up which gives as much support as possible to the cutting edge, with an adjustable mouth, making the plane particularly suitable for straightening edges either with or across the grain. A toothed blade is available for this plane, which is excellent for the removal of heavy stock in difficult grain. The Hot Dog attachment available will transform the Low Angle Jack into a shooting plane. The body is ductile iron, the lever cap is bronze and the handles are cherry wood. The base is 355mm(14") long by 62mm(2.1/2") long by 62mm(2.1/2") wide.

Brilliant Plane

This is my first Lie-Neilsen plane which I purchased at Axminster in Devon after trying it out in the shop. After the first few passes I knew I had to buy it as it was such a joy to use. When I got mine home and tried it on some oak it was stunning straight out of the box taking full width fine shavings. After a hone it was even better and flattened my boards really easily. The mass and length of it make truing up boards easy and it goes straight through any knots. The build quality is superb and the finish is excellent which makes it a pleasure to use and look at. I resisted buying it for a while due to the price however if looked after it will last forever and be passed on to my heirs. I have a Stanley No.4 which took me hours of work to get right before it was properly flat and able to take a thin shaving, the No.62 is ready to work when you pick it up. In summary it's thanks to Tom Lie-Neilsen for making such a fantastic tool and I would highly recommend it.

Pure Beauty

This is an absoluty stunning piece of cut. Razor sharp out the box. Taking wafer thin shavings in seconds. If you're getting serious about your woodworking then this really is the next step. I just love it.

First buy, best buy

This was the first plane I have purchased myself. My others a stanley 4 1/2 given to me by my grandfather and a 60 1/2 that my mother bought me many years ago.
I had compared this to the marginally cheaper Veritas equivalent, but I personally felt the LN has marginally better build quality. While the Veritas has a contemporary look and some nice features such as the blade side restraint set screws the LN edged it out.

Stunning

I bought this plane some time ago and use fairly often. Best quality and therefore best results.. Obviously not cheap but worth every penny. Using it as Shooting Planer as well, but I would recommend to buy the handle for shooting as well. Makes it more controllable. Overall an awesome product
