An update to my last review

I have given this tool some good use, and it is still going strong, so fair play to it for that.

Interestingly, the other day I got talking to a guy who actually works for Makita. I started to comment on the cable length, and he already knew what I was about to say, he's heard it that many times!

He was very well aware how annoying the cable length issue is, and has raised it at a higher level to no avail. He has been told the tool is designed just for use on and around a workbench., and Makita won't budge on this line The same apparently also goes for the 1/3 sheet equivalent. The customer is always right??

Does the job but...

...........only as long as you do not have to reach over head height.
As the others have said the power cable is a big pain in the rear, my festool is in for service so ordered this for a quick replacement.
Couldn't find my trailing cable and ended up with a 50ft cable reel in one hand and the sander in the other. What a laugh that was, not.
Just going to replace with a longer lead, sod the warranty

not bad at all

Great litle sander, but the cord.... is realy short, almost imposible to work without an extension cord.
Not to much to say about it, it does the job, nothing else to complain about.

Not quite perfect

Most of my power tools (belt sander, two drills, planer, mitre saw, plunge saw) are Makita.

I have always been impressed with their buld quality, accuracy and usefully long power cables.

On this last point, I unfortunately have to agree with Alan Dixon. The power cable for this little thing is annoyingly and disappointingly short - just the right length in fact to make sanding the top part of a door in situ a rather awkward job.

The rest of the tool is fine, and I struggle to understand why this particular bit of kit has to be so seriously devalued for the sake of an extra couple of feet of cable!!! I'd have cheerfully paid a couple more quid for a longer lead!

why?

I brought it as a back up my Festool and replace my old trusted DeWalt plam sander (which had a very hard life) ... the cable is so short it makes any site work impossible without an uisng an extension cable. usless ... nothing wrong with the sander but the cable makes it pointless ... try again Makita or perhaps you should be putting cables on toasters.
