The kit comprises a DHP481 high spec 2-speed Combi Drill and DTD154 Impact Driver, supplied in a case with 2 x 5.0Ah Li-Ion batteries and a fast charger. The batteries are suitable for all other 18V Li-Ion LXT Makita cordless tools.
Both these cordless tools feature Makita brushless motors. These motors have the big advantage of being maintenance free. They are highly energy efficient so your battery’s charge lasts significantly longer (up to twice as long). Both tools come with forward/reverse function, a variable speed trigger, electric brake and LED job light.
DHP481 Combi Drill
The DHP481 Combi Drill is a powerful tool with 21 torque settings plus a drill setting. It produces a high torque of 115Nm and has a 2-speed gearbox. The hammer mode delivers up to 31,500 blows per minute. It will effortlessly drive screws, drill wood or metal and with the hammer-action engaged; drill into masonry. It comes with a quick-fit auxiliary handle giving you complete control over the power. Other features include robust metal chuck, twin LED work lights and battery fuel indicator.
DTD154 Impact Driver
The Makita DTD154 Brushless Impact Driver easily copes with harsh working environments. The outer case is dust and drip proof, making it a good choice for outdoor site and construction work. The DTD154 delivers up to 175Nm of torque and features 3-stage electronic impact power selection (Hard/Medium/Soft) and T-mode for tightening self-drilling screws. It will drive standard bolts from M5 to M14 and machine screws from M4 to M8. The impact action drives wood screws up to 30% faster even into hardwood and without a pilot hole, saving time and effort. It is compact and light in weight at 1.4kg and, with an ergonomic soft grip, the DTD154 handles well without compromising on power. Best set on the marketSimply the best ive used. The 5A.H gives plenty of runtime whilst the drill itself handles just about every material with ease. The driver has ample power too and makes short work of 100mm screws. It even has settings for smaller screws and specialist TEK screws. The compact size of both units makes them very versatile indeed. Comes complete with a Macpac case which is very handy although the latches can be a bit "fiddly" at first.

Poor quality/durabilityHave been a happy user/owner of makita kit for many years but left very disappointed with the dhp481z combi drill. Owned this for less than 6 months and it's jammed in the screw driver function also the chuck can't be removed something wrong with the thread can't get to the function selector mechanism to fix main problem. Leave this combi not worth the money although initially it seems like a solid drill. No rotating bezel either for intricate work. Sad and depressed :( meant to be top of the range.
