Makita G-Series tools are tools of a quality far exceeding that of DIY products: a comprehensive range of tools that represent great value for money. The G-series range uses a different lithium-ion battery to the Makita LXT professional cordless power tools. Makita G-Series cordless tools are only compatible with G-Series batteries (G-Series batteries are white) and the DC18WA charger. The HP457DWE10 shares the same features as its professional cousin. It has a 2-speed mechanical gearbox coupled with a variable speed trigger. For driving screws, the HP457DWE10 has 16 torque settings, forward or reverse rotation and an electric brake to prevent overruns. As a true combi drill, it is capable of drilling into wood, metal and masonry. Supplied with two batteries, charger, carry case and 74 piece bit set.

A DIY drill. This cannot be reguarded seriously as a professional, tool, not because of the tool itself but because of the bottom rated batteries, 1.3 ah is just not enough. On any serious piece of work you won't be able to charge batteries fast enough to keep up with the screwdriving requirement. Great if you like long and frequent teabreaks. On the other hand Makita has always been my preferred power tool company.
