The LS0815 is a 216mm (8.5") cost-effective sliding compound mitre saw with an integrated laser marker, LED job light and a maximum mitre range of 50–60°. Positive stops make mitre and repeat settings simple and quick (0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45°). Twin steel bars with linear ball bearings give you a smooth and precise sliding action. A powerful 1,400W motor with a 'soft start' feature provides power together with a soft grip handle for easy transportation and, as it only weighs 14.2kg, it’s relatively easy to move around the workshop or site. A sliding sub-fence is fitted on the left hand side as well as work supports on each side.

Great bit of kitA good saw for the price, although saw arrived faulty, Axminster Tools had Makita repair saw rather than just renewing it so my review should be not a bad saw for a nearly new saw.30 day no quibble return sort of went out the window

Over-complicated and difficult to useIf you have small hands, this is not the saw for you. It does a lot, yes, and seems to be quite well built, but is over-complicated for basic sawing and basic mitre and bevel cuts. In particular the switch is poorly designed such that if you have small hands it is almost impossible to switch on with one hand. You have to push a button on the top, and at the same time move the guard release and the trigger. I simply can't do this. I would not recommend this saw unless you absolutely have to have the slide mechanism, and can put up with the poor trigger design.

Very ImpressedThis seems a very good quality saw. Very smooth, precise and light action. Beautiful clean, high quality cut. The bars extend a long way out the back and it does require quite a bit of room around it because of the cutting capacity. It cut perfectly square both directions straight out of the box. I think it's a bit of a shame the angle markings are just basically stickers stuck onto the machine - I don't know if these might start to peel off?

makita mitre sawGreat compact saw, ideal for 2nd fix carpentry. Only negative thing is the base is too narrow considering it does a 12" cut, . as are the supports at either end of the saw. Apart from that it is a good buy.
