Description

Compact router trimmer that combines one motor with different bases. This machine is great for a host of small routing and trimming tasks in the workshop or on site. The motor is fitted with variable speed control and has soft start. It can be quickly interchanged and locked into the required base. This kit comes complete with 3 bases; trimming, plunge and bevel base.
Plunge base turns the machine into a plunge router with 2 solid grip handles, a height adjuster with fine adjustment and a stepped turret for repetitive depth setting. The side fence fits left or right and has a 130mm reach from centre, however, you may wish to add a wooden sub fence which would reduce this. Dust extraction outlet is also supplied with a 35mm outlet. Easy to control suitable for decorative edge working as well as small mortices and grooves. Trimming base this small 90mm round base turns the machine into a trimmer for single handed use. Use with or without the height adjustable bearing guide for cutters without bearings, rolling on the curve for a fine cut. A 10mm template guide is supplied to fit this and the side fence can also be used for straight work. The dust guard has a 35mm outlet to attach an extractor hose if required. Bevel base a small square 90mm base that can tilt and be locked at a required angle (45°-0°-30°), allows for more scope when profiling and jointing.
The machine is also supplied with 1/4" & 3/8" collet, 16mm & 10mm template guides, plunge base side fence, side grip handle (can replace right plunge base handle), 2 dust extraction shrouds, 13 and 22mm wrenches and tool bag.

I agree that it is a great little tool - lovely to handle and use, l have a 1/2" triton which is a real monster & at it's best table mounted. This has a real quality feel, very smooth - but - on 1st use, l tightened the bit, was using it to cut a rebate in some conti & over the length the bit slipped out by 5mm cutting a sloping groove - not funny. I now tighten it using both spanners to squeeze the pips out of it. I'm sure it would break the casting tighten it enough to hold the bit as a previous review found.

I bought one of these last year expecting it to feel cheap but its far from it. It's solid and has a good weight to it and the motor sounds very smooth. I use it for all the little jobs like round overs and hinges which it copes with fine. The only bit I can fault is when changing cutters using the spindle lock it can be a bit fiddly but if you use both spanners supplied instead of the push button you will be fine.

At first it seemed like a great bit of kit, comes with loads of extras and coped with hardwood easily, was really pleased, then when I tried to remove the cutter using the built in push pin and the spanner supplied, the motter housing cracked! The collette wasn't even tight, undid easily using the 2 spanners supplied instead. Very disappointed, as all my other makita kit has been spot on.
