Description

Compact router trimmer that combines one motor with different bases. This machine is great for a host of small routing and trimming tasks in the workshop or on site. The motor is fitted with variable speed control and has soft start. It can be quickly interchanged and locked into the required base. This kit comes complete with 3 bases; trimming, plunge and bevel base.
Plunge base turns the machine into a plunge router with 2 solid grip handles, a height adjuster with fine adjustment and a stepped turret for repetitive depth setting. The side fence fits left or right and has a 130mm reach from centre, however, you may wish to add a wooden sub fence which would reduce this. Dust extraction outlet is also supplied with a 35mm outlet. Easy to control suitable for decorative edge working as well as small mortices and grooves. Trimming base this small 90mm round base turns the machine into a trimmer for single handed use. Use with or without the height adjustable bearing guide for cutters without bearings, rolling on the curve for a fine cut. A 10mm template guide is supplied to fit this and the side fence can also be used for straight work. The dust guard has a 35mm outlet to attach an extractor hose if required. Bevel base a small square 90mm base that can tilt and be locked at a required angle (45°-0°-30°), allows for more scope when profiling and jointing.
The machine is also supplied with 1/4" & 3/8" collet, 16mm & 10mm template guides, plunge base side fence, side grip handle (can replace right plunge base handle), 2 dust extraction shrouds, 13 and 22mm wrenches and tool bag.

I bought this to replace my old Trend T3.
I am very impressed by the build quality and power. It comes with a great set of accessories and is very easy to control with one hand.
I would definitely buy again,

Bought one of these a year ago from Axminster. I also have a Trend T11 which I have not used since buying this. I normally use it with the fixed base. This is small and very controllable and very easy to see what you are doing. Very pleased with it. But, it claims to be soft start, it isn't and the collet has to be tightened with both spanners or the cutter shaft will slip. You can buy spare fixed bases on e-bay for £20 and build them permanently into jigs, makes life so much easier. It is also easy to replace the base plate with custom ones to bridge large gaps etc. The supplied fence is not very good, but if you buy a couple of 8mm rods you can attach the Trend fence, much better, both available on e-bay. If you register it on the Makita web site you get a two year guarantee. If you want to use big cutters then this is not for you, but if like me you want to do precision work then this is the one to buy.

Nice bit of kit. Useful large toolbag. Very handy that it will take 2 sizes of collets. Much more robust fences than the standard Makita
trim router. It would help if metric collets were an option from Axminster. I find the switch a bit hard to reach and fiddly especially when using
the plunge base, a bigger easier to reach switch would be an advantage.

One of the best routers I have owned so far. It does the job just right.
With the plunge base the dust extraction in not good at all, but with the fixed base dust extraction is great. It is true that the bit change can be a litle difficult, but with the 2 spanners suplied works just fine. All taken in balance, it is a great litle router, I am very pleased with it.
