Description

In Detail

Micro-Mesh is a unique cushioned abrasive that produces a very fine and uniform scratch pattern.

If you finish to around 400g with standard abrasives then start using the 1,500g Micro-Mesh you should get excellent results. The 12,000g will leave a scratch pattern that cannot be detected by the human eye. Micro-Mesh offers outstanding results for a huge range of applications, and is proving to be extremely popular with pen turners, musical instrument makers, furniture restorers and anyone who requires a highly polished surface. Can be used wet or dry, you will wonder how you managed without it.

Supplied as a pack of nine double sided 50 x 50mm soft touch pads ranging from 1,500g to 12,000g.

Highly Recommended!

At first glance, these seem expensive at about a pound per pad. But... having used them a few times now on acrylic pens I would say they're well worth the money.
I agree with previous comments, use these to finish sand/polish. You'll wear them out too quickly otherwise.
I do a few grades of emery cloth first before starting with these, wet. Then, every 2nd grade, I stop the lathe and rub the pen blank along its length to lose any scratches. Finally, at slowish speed on the lathe, I give it a dab of T-cut to buff it up.

Brilliant - literally

My set arrived yesterday and I used them for the first time today. I used them dry on some English Yew and wet on an acrylic pen. Stunning results on both

Very Smooth!

Excellent for pen turners and folk wanting a very smooth finish suitable for polishing to a high shine.
Make sure that you sand through to around 400g before using these then use them in rotation for a very smooth surface. I finshed off with CA Glue and several coats of Friction Polish for a very high shine.

Very soft

These pads produce stuuning results, the only downside to them are that they are very soft and extreamly easy to wear through. Make sure you go through grades of paper before using these and only use these when polishing is to be started, don't try to use these to take out anything but finest of marks. Use these to polish, not sanding.
