Description

In Detail

Specifically developed to achieve outstanding results on the most challenging surface conditions and repair applications, Abranet HD is the discerning choice where conventional abrasives fail. The ultra tough nylon mesh backing material creates a more even abrasive surface, which produces a consistent surface finish far more quickly. Designed for optimum performance in wet and dry modes on many materials, it features exceptional resistance to edge wear and clogging, meaning it retains its highly effective sanding properties for much longer, especially in demanding situations. It's also manufactured using an environmentally friendly, solvent free coating. Supplied in boxes of 25 discs.

Great for rapid flattening

The HD version of Abranet is a great material for rapidly finishing hardwood and I am sure also softwood. The rate which it works is better than would be expected for the same grit 'conventional' discs. On hardwood it does remove material more quickly then the 'normal' Abranet, which is already ahead of rival products.

Overall the finish is better than would be expected for the grit level, it is not though as good as the normal Abranet. As though it does not leave as many scratches as conventional discs there will only any pad be a few spots that leave the sort of scratches you would expect to see. So the finish is not as good as with normal Abranet but it is not as heavily scratched as with conventional discs.

My approach using Abranet HD is to use 40 grit HD discs to flatten the surface, then 80 grit normal Abranet discs to remove the scoring followed by 240 or 400 grit normal Abranet to produce what is generally an excellent finish with overall less effort.
