The CEROS random orbit sander from Mirka is a new concept in this type of power tool. By utilising a separate 22V transformer and a brushless 400W DC motor, the weight of the sander is kept to an absolute minimum. At 920 grams the sanding of vertical or overhead surfaces no longer causes the fatigue associated with normal sanders when used for this type of work. A generous four metre heavy duty power cord connects the supplied transformer to the sander. The control and smoothness is second to none and the balance is superb enabling easy one handed use. The digitally controlled speed range covers 4,000 - 10,000rpm and when used with Mirka Abranet®, the sander produces a flawless finish for a huge range of sanding applications. Dust extraction is extremely efficient when connected to a suitable extractor and a vacuum hose is available separately. Fitted with a standard backing pad with a 5/16" (8mm) thread the universal hole pattern of the pad enables the fitting of many different makes and types of abrasive disc. 2+1 Extended warranty on Mirka sanders, registration required within 30 days.

totally reliableI have had two of these for roughy four years. I have a sculpture studio and as above, i never put these away, i use them in confined spaces, i sometimes take the vacuum section off for tight shapes, i also let them work out of control with two sponge pads to act as a buffer, all these overheat the unit, which has a cool down mode. it deals with all my abuse! i have had them both repaired once because of overheating [completely my fault and avoidable], under warranty for free and they pick them up and send them back. i think this is as good as it gets with power tools, given that the gubbins is elsewhere it really is as big as your palm which is brilliant. I'm sure it won't be for everyone, but if you need to rely on a tool as much as anyone ever should, this be the tool. also Axminster are as helpful as they have any obligation to be and then will at least offer to deal with the repair logistics for you with regards aftercare. they have no need to do this. all round good package.

125mm Version failed after 7 monthsI bought the 125 version of this m/c and the dc power supply failed after 7 months. Axminster would not replace it and it had to go away for repair. Not good when you are in the middle of a job. Very good for overhead work and works well when connected to a Festool Midi.

Great ToolTo redress the balance, in my opinion this is a 5 star product. We have 3 of these mounted on the dedicated vacuum cleaners and they never get put away. They are used every day virtually all day in preference to the black and green ones.

Wonderful tool but lamentable storage systemVery light and easy to use. Eye-wateringly expensive but for professionals the claim that it will pay for itself, when used in the recommended manner, by dramatically reducing clean-up times is probably justifiable. Would get 5 stars if it had a decent storage system. All you get is a cardboard box with an "egg box" inside to put the bits in!! Totally unacceptable for the price and makes an absolute mockery of the claim that it is a trade/industrial tool.
