Nobex 505 Magnetic Saw Guide

Details

Key Features

  • Saw held in place against head by three magnets
  • Pre-set stops at 45°, 90° or 135°
  • Two lugs on body locate guide against face edge of timber

Description

Simplicity itself, you just can't go wrong. The saw is held in place against the head by three magnets. The head can be set to 45°, 90° or 135° using the pre-set stops or at any chosen angle in between. There are two lugs on the body to locate the guide against the face edge of the timber to be cut. The body of the guide is held in one hand whilst the saw is drawn back and forth by the other; what could be easier? The saw stays perfectly aligned with no need even to mark the timber. Made in Sweden.

This is a great idea. It is however let down by being made of cheap plastic which completely fell apart after less than an hours use. It is a handy tool if used very lightly. Could be much much better

Fine for cuts where no great accuracy is required but I also found that with careful attention to sawing action (i.e. either using no or very light pressure and let saw glide freely) I can get very accurate mitres and right-angle cuts. This is the best sawing aid I have come across. WARNING: THIS SEEMS TO BE DESIGNED FOR RIGHT-HANDED USE and I would imagine it to be difficult to use left-handed. This is because you'd have to locate it on the far side of the wood that you are cutting unless you clamped it rather than held it by hand. I contrast the Nobex guide with my experience of the more expensive Veritas Magnetic Saw Guide which I found far less useful.

Just the job for light sawing duties where a degree of accuracy in cross cutting and mitres are required.

Used this recently for some cladding work and an aviary using 3x2. In both cases lugging a powered mitre saw was going to be problematic because of space/weather/overkill etc.

This is a great little aid to throw into your kit bag for occaisional cuts. It really aids accuracy and is so simple - no set up (other than angle) and hold the wood as normal. Easy, quick and acurate enough for most jobbing work.

What a Fantastic little tool for £20. Works great and appears to be good quality. If you are like me and just can't make a straight cut treat yourself and Buy One of these, it's brilliant.

this cheap little item has saved me hours when im cutting architrive up . it has 3 groves that the bearing locks into so you get a perfect cut each time just make sure you loosen the nut fully before adjusting it to different angles other wise it will wear the groves away eventualy and it wont lock into place corectly
