Osmo Top Oil is a strong, durable oil designed to enhance the natural beauty of wood on tables and kitchen worktops drying to a clear, matt finish. Based on natural waxes and oils, Osmo Top Oil does not peel, flake, crack or blister which allows for good performance in high humidity areas. It is a hard-wearing oil with excellent resistance to water, juices, wine, beer and fizzy drinks. It is quick and easy to apply with a cloth, roller or paint brush by applying two or three thin coats. No primer is required. The grain of the wood is enhanced once Osmo Top Oil has been applied and if the final finish is not shiny enough, buffing it with a cloth will create a sheen. As the natural oils and waxes penetrate deep into the surface they help to keep the wood supple, preventing it from getting dry and brittle thus reducing any movement.

Looks great but not waterproofRe-sanded the maple kitchen worktop and applied three thin coats of Topoil as per instructions. It looked terrific and felt like silk. Expected great things. But on day 2 a tiny splash from a hot kettle when pouring a coffee cut right through the finish and hinted at later trouble. Overnight a jug of cold water leaked making a puddle 300mm across. It raised the grain and left a large dull area. Sanded that and applied two more less thin coats. Now everything is protected with mats and every spill is wiped up immediately - not quite what I had hoped for in the kitchen. It's still a terrific finish but perhaps only for dry areas and not a worktop

A truly great productThis product is a delight to use, wether you brush it on or wipe it on with a cloth. It dries well and looks good. If it lasts the way they say it will it might just be my favourite finishing product. It is a tad more expensive than others but I have been delighted with the results and feel the extra shows.
