Axminster SIEG X3 Mill Drill
This is a compact and well made vertical mill drill with an excellent specification and of a size to suit any small workshop. Among the many attractive features are the electronically variable spindle speed with a choice of two speed ranges, rectangular column with adjustable dovetail guides for the head and a very conveniently positioned vertical feed control wheel. The drilling function is operated via a handle on the side of the head whilst the fine downfeed is achieved by moving the complete head assembly on the column. The control wheels are smooth in operation and the scales are graduated in steps of 0.02mm, allowing for some very precise machining. Excellent value for money and an excellent choice for the model engineer. The machine is supplied with 1-13mm drill chuck and there is a 3MT morse taper in the quill for fitting end mill collets, milling chucks or other items of tooling. Accessories available are (a) a cabinet stand with shelves and a lockable door and (b) a kit of clamps, nuts, studs and spacers for clamping the work to the table.

"Probably one of the most rigid mills available in its class and outstanding value for money. Does, however, require stripping down and re-assembling to adjust correctly (plus to remove transport grease!). The X3 has been around a while and is well know for beging ideal for CNC conversion - see "Model Engieer's Workshop" magazine May/June 2004. I own one and would buy it again!"
