Veritas Small Plough Plane
The Veritas small plough plane is ideal for quickly cutting grooves and rabbets, such as on drawer and box bottoms and cabinet backs, and in frame and panel construction. The 168mm(6.5/8") long fence registers solidly to the workpiece and is through-drilled to accommodate the addition of a wooden fence extension. The asymmetric fence grip has been sculpted to comfortably fit the natural curvatures of the hand. Double guide rods and a special collet locking system prevent the fence from racking. The large brass knobs make adjustments fast and easy without need for tools; the fence can be offset from flush to 38mm(1.1/2") from the 6.3mm(1/4") blade. The adjustable shoe controls the depth of cut (maximum 12.7mm(1/2") deep), and has relieved edges to avoid marking your work. A wave washer in the locking mechanism steadies the shoe during adjustment. The large wooden rear tote offers a solid, comfortable grip, and the 228mm(9") long ductile cast iron body weighs 790g(1.3/4lb) and is machined with a 45° blade bed. Best used in the direction of the grain, the plane is supplied with a 1/4"(6.35mm) wide lapped A2 tool steel blade, or complete with all five available blades. The other blade widths being: (1/8"(3.2mm), 3/16"(4.8), 5/16"(8mm) and 3/8"(9.5mm) all available separately.
