Axminster Tilt Head Floor Standing Morticer

Both the table and the head can be tilted for cutting simple or compound angled mortices. The table tilts along the longitudinal axis ±20° and the head tilts from side to side ±20°. Both movements are controlled by individual hand wheels connected to rack and pinion mechanisms. Actual table movement; longitudinal and transverse is controlled by hand wheels, adjustable jib strips and dovetail slides ensure smooth working movement over the machine's lifetime. The wooden faced table has as a length stop for repetition work, a quick action vice and two cam-clamp hold downs. A scale on the rear of the table with the two lateral stops, gives accurate setting for repeat cutting of long mortices. The operating handle can be easily re-positioned for the most comfortable working position. A gas strut is used to counter balance the weight of the head. To the side of the head vertical movement is set between a pair of stops mounted on a scale. Mounted on a cabinet base with has a lockable door and shelf. It takes either 13/16" or 3/4" shank chisels, up to 19mm (3/4") in size.
