Clifton Multi Plane

Clico, who have always enjoyed a reputation for producing top quality tools, have turned their attention to the multi plane. Although nowadays, in many instances, this tool has been superseded by the modern electric router there are still times when either a moulding cannot be worked with a router or the plane is simply quicker to set and use. Not to mention the quiet swish of fine shavings leaving the workpiece and gently brushing over the left hand. The Clifton Multi Plane is a worthy successor to previous makes of this versatile tool (Stanley 45 and Record 045) and made for those who enjoy the sheer craftsmanship of working with hand tools. The body is machined from fine grey iron and nickel chrome plated. The handle, knobs and fence are from rosewood. The plane is supplied in a wooden box complete with instructions and a set of 24 cutters made from accurately ground and hardened finest Sheffield tool steel. The cutter set comprises 14 plough and dado cutters from 1/8" to 1.1/4" and including 4, 6, 9 and 12mm; 5 beading cutters 1/8" to 1/2"; a 3/16" and 1/4" tonguing cutter; a 1/4" and 3/8" ovolo and 1 slitting cutter. Also available is a set of 16 additional cutters - 2 sash 1.1/2" and 1.3/4"; 6 fluting cutters 3/16" to 3/4"; 4.1/8" multiple bead cutters x 2, x 3, x 4, x 5 and 4.1/4" multiple reed cutters x 2, x 3, x 4 and x 5.
