Solid cast iron design for vibration free operation Advanced 700W brushless motor Variable speed range 50-2500rpm Digital display of spindle speed and travel Left hand spindle rotation and tapping function standard Head tilt up to 45° either way
Axminster SIEG X2 Super Mill
A new compact milling machine of innovative cast iron design for vibration free operation. The travelling column gives compact size and superior stability and the advanced 700W brushless motor gives a variable speed of between 50 and 2500rpm monitored by a digital display which also indicates spindle travel. Left hand spindle rotation and tapping function is standard and the head tilts up to 45° either way for vertical and inclined work. The large table is precision machined with adjustable dovetail guides. Standard equipment includes: Control panel with digital display, micro adjustable spindle downfeed, 1-13mm keyless chuck with MT2 arbor, 10mm drawbar, drilling and milling guard and tool tray. Available to bench mount or independently mount on a purpose built floor stand. This is a very modern design that will appeal to model engineers and educational departments who will appreciate the high standard of construction and precision offered by this machine. End milling capacity 16mm, face milling 30mm

Poor Machine
"First the plus side.
It came well packed and protected, the speed control seems quite good and overall appearance also.
Now for the negative side.
After insalling the X2 in my wokshop I noticed that the tommy bar hole for locking the spindle was missing.
While running the X2 I was winding the cross slide towards me, when the spindle stoped and the word error appeared on the display. This was caused by a wire that was hanging from the bottom of the column, It had caught on the cross slide leadscrew and had pulled out of the electronic control unit. In order to put the wire back I decided to remove the column to make it easier to work on. In removing the column I discovered that there was a .5mm shim under the back edge of the column, this is not acceptable as the rigidity of the X2 will be seriously compromised. One last thing the fine feed worm and wheel upon turning it went tight and slack, this was caused by the teeth on the worm wheel being machined at different depths.
