The Festool DOMINO provides speed and precision
without any compromise in strength. It is also versatile; just about
any mortice and tenon joint can be cut with the DOMINO - even mortice
and tenon mitre and compound mitres. It can replace the biscuit jointer
and the resulting joints are stronger and more precise.
Resembling
a biscuit joiner, its operation is just as simple. In this case with
each plunge a straight (router like) cutter mills a precise slot
mortice. Festool manufacture special DOMINO beech dowels (five sizes)
which are effectively loose tenons used to join two mating mortices.
This jointing machine:
• uses
oval DOMINO shaped wooden dowels
• patented routing principle
• six stop positions for hole centres
• depth stops at 12, 15, 20, 25 and 28mm
• supplied in SYSTAINER case
The dowels are a precise fit in the mortices and bearing in mind a
glue joint is stronger than the surrounding wood the DOMINO can produce
exceptionally strong joints.
Furniture built using
the DOMINO requires less timber; if a member is Xmm long it doesn't have to be cut to Xmm + (2 x TLmm). Many of us hate the brain overload
caused by calculating a cutting list to include tenons and then always
end up cutting one piece too short because we forgot about the tenon.
So there is a small saving
in timber, plus potentially expensive waste through silly mistakes is avoided.
The DOMINO demonstrates
this in every detail -
1 Efficient dust extraction
Extracts up to 95% of chips generated
2 Depth stop
Quick, precise adjustment for five different routing depths
