Ground from solid high-speed steel bar these drill bits are intended for general workshop and production use. They offer good chip clearance, rigidity and quality of cut, especially in the more difficult materials. Available singly or, in the more common sizes, in packs of five at an advantageous price, they cover a wide range of both metric and imperial sizes.These are commonly refered to as Jobber drills. As a rule of thumb, the effective drilling depth (i.e. the length of the flute) is roughly equal to ten times the diameter of the drill.
